Our team, in partnership with Sage Hospitality and Optima Ventures, played a pivotal role as Design-Builder in transforming the former Crowne Plaza Hotel (originally the Bond Court Hotel) into The Westin Cleveland. This 22-story, 510,000 sq. ft. hotel underwent a 14-month renovation of public spaces and 484 guest rooms, and its grand ballroom large enough to accommodate 2,000 guests. Our Design-Build team managed the due diligence phase to identify critical infrastructure issues, establish design approaches and budget allocation, and ultimately oversee extensive updates to mechanical systems, fire safety, technology, and interior finishes.
We oversaw all aspects of design and construction, including façade improvements, upgraded HVAC systems, and modernization of elevators to improve reliability and efficiency. Common areas and guest rooms alike received complete makeovers with new flooring, wall coverings, lighting, and technology upgrades. Notable additions included the Urban Farmer restaurant, a full-service Starbucks, and Cleveland’s largest hotel fitness center. Our team collaborated with McCartan of New York for interior design and LAND Studio for artwork curation, ensuring a seamless blend of sophistication and Cleveland’s local charm.
