American Campus Communities, the nation’s largest developer and manager of privatized student housing, selected the project team of Weber Murphy Fox Architects and Marous Brothers Construction to collaborate on Cleveland State University’s student housing project. This $38 million development, which achieved LEED Silver Certification, consisted of a 232,000 sq. ft., four-story, wood-frame structure built in two phases, providing 559 students with apartment-style suites equipped with the latest technological features, including wireless internet access and electronic key security access systems, kitchenettes, study lounges, and social areas. Additionally, on the first floor of the building, facing Euclid Avenue, were administrative and marketing offices, along with retail storefronts that provided amenities for the students. In addition to the student housing component, the project included the construction of a four-story parking structure designed to accommodate 300 vehicles. Marous Brothers Construction’s self-performing divisions provided site and concrete services, rough and finish carpentry, drywall hanging, and acoustical ceiling installation work for the entire project.
